Spring Casual Wardrobe Checklist!

Now that America's favorite holiday, the Superbowl is out of the way, and the anticlimactic snow warnings are a distant memory, I'm ready to think about spring. Mentally I am already bikini, sandal, sundress and white jean shopping but actually, I am sitting at my desk with a heater blowing on my legs sipping hot decaf. Even so, it's better to be prepared--March 20th is right around the corner. Here's a list of ten casual spring staples that everyone needs in stock.

1. Plain White T-shirt (long and short sleeved) - Petit Bateau is my favorite brand for a basic tee shirt. If you are small to medium, size "16 ans" (16 years old) is tastefully form fitting.

2. White Button Down - A crisp white button down is a must, but a casual one that can be worn with jeans, shorts and casual skirts is good thing to have on hand as well. Joe's Jeans THE SHIRT has a lot of cute casual light weight button downs that are perfect for rollling the sleeves up and looking more relaxed.

3. Light weight Raincoat - There will be many rainy days ahead to be sure, but give the classic long trenchcoat a break and opt for a shorter lightweight version for spring.

4. A spring scarf - I can't wait to put away my wool and cashmere and opt for a lighter weight material such as silk or linen. An Hermes scarf is a classic of course but a scarf in Italian linen is chic and casual.

5. The One Button Blazer - This piece of clothing in a classic color, or in something cool and funky instantly polishes up jeans and a tee shirt.

6. The cardigan - As much as I do not like cardigans and their matronly look, I find at least two or three I can tolerate to have as options for cold movie theaters and restaurants.

7. Skinny Cargo Pants - A new twist on a basic, the skinny cargo is a great alternative to a pair of jeans and are much more flattering than actual cargos which are so masculine and unflattering.

8. Spring Day Dress - Nothing is easier than throwing on a dress, yet it looks so "put together." I always like to have two or three casual dresses I know look good so I can throw them on on days I don't want to "think."

10. Slip on Sandal - Sandals are a must period, but a cute slip on sandal that is NOT a flip flop is so convenient to have when you don't have time and patience to mess with buckles. It's something I always have in my wardrobe during spring/summer.
